In the best of the Digital Humanities tradition, an online interactive search environment has been created that offers detailed information on DH courses throughout Europe. This registry was presented at the recent DARIAH VCC meeting in Rome and is an example of an in kind contribution to DARIAH by its neighboring  members Germany and the Netherlands. Together they took the lead and designed a search environment that combines a map of Europe with a database containing all relevant information on DH humanities courses. Students who are interested in pursuing a career in Digital Humanities, and lecturers who are looking for examples of good practices can search the database on the basis of topographical location, credits or degrees that are awarded, and keywords from the taxonomy on DH that was developed earlier by DARIAH Germany. As the Dutch/Flemish and Germans took the initiative, most of the data in the registru comes from these countries, but during the meeting in Rome the baton was passed to France and Austria.

The initial approach to gather data on DH education was to send out a survey to lecturers who had been identified on the website of their faculty. The newest version of the registry however offers the possibility to lecturers to add their courses to the registry themselves. They can register at https://dariah.uni-koeln.de after which they will receive an application form that can be completed. After approval by the administrator the course is added to the registry.  The problem of information not being up to date after some time is partly covered by making a central person in each country responsible for monitoring the quality of the data.  To identify out-dated information a feature has been added that makes a data field turn red if it is not updated after a certain amount of time.

We encourage everyone to browse through the registry,  to stimulate students to use it and to add courses to it. Registration: https://dariah.uni-koeln.de/ by clicking on APPLY on the left upper side.
